Extra Help for prescription costs

Extra Help assists eligible people with limited income and resources with Medicare Part D costs. Some people qualify automatically; others apply through Social Security. Eligibility limits can change, and territorial programs differ.

Medicare Savings Programs

State-administered Medicare Savings Programs can help qualifying people pay Medicare premiums and, in some programs, other costs. Ask your state Medicaid office about current requirements and how to apply.

Do not rule yourself out based on an old income chart or a general website estimate. Ask the program which income and resources count for your circumstances.

Prepare for the application conversation

Make a list of the documents the agency requests and ask how to submit them securely. Keep a record of your application date, reference number and the next follow-up step. Do not email financial records, Medicare numbers or Social Security numbers to PlanMatch.

Get independent help

Your State Health Insurance Assistance Program can provide free, personalized Medicare counseling. Medicare.gov also provides official program information.

PlanMatch does not process benefits applications or decide whether you qualify. Our role is to help you arrive with clearer questions.
